Maxion İnci Wheel Group, one of the pioneers in Turkish automotive supply industry, continues its sustainability activities within the scope of the Social Impact Program. Mustafa Zaim, the President of Maxion İnci & Maxion Jantaş, commented, "We believe that sustainability has to remain on the agenda than ever before in these days as the whole world suffers from the impacts of the global climate crisis. In order for next generations to meet their needs, we must hand over our resources and values to the future.”
Having sustainability to become one of the core values of its corporate culture, Maxion İnci Wheel Group continues to carry out activities such as installing solar panels to its plants and facilities, reduction of single-use plastics, promoting environmental consciousness by organizing campaigns against forest fires as well as various awareness activities for a more inhabitable world. Having included several goals of the European Green Deal in their agenda, especially those related to the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) resulting from transportation and to products with low carbon footprint as a result of production by renewable energy sources, the Group continues its R&D activities to design lighter wheels having more suitable aerodynamic specifications to meet the requirements for electric vehicle expectations by considering lightening (modulation) efforts in automotive industry. Believing that the current period is when companies are required to embrace change in and transformation of their business processes, the Group has become the first corporation participating from Turkey to the Program “Employees Teaching Global Goals” as developed by IMPACT 2030 Initiative in collaboration with World’s Biggest Lesson platform.
Taking another key step to transfer today’s values to next generations, Maxion İnci Jant Group has become the sponsor for the next period of Water Explorer Program, which is a fun, inspiring, and educational web-based program allowing for thousands of students around the world to engage in common action about water problems in their own schools and communities, in order to ensure the implementation of the Program in over 100 public schools in İzmir and Manisa provinces in Turkey from February through June 2022.
Water Explorer Program, uniting various institutions and organizations from 11 countries under the guidance of Global Action Plan UK, an international non-governmental organization based in the UK, and coordinated by Mikado Sustainable Development Consulting in Turkey, aims at raising awareness about water in students of 8-14 age group. Each school carries out a series of activities and group work to protect its virtual water reserve. The Program includes four areas of challenge focusing on water (i.e., Secret Water, Precious Water, Global Water, and Fresher Water). Each challenge area consists of 3 activity series that students are required to complete. Each school is expected to determine at least one challenge area identified as important by taking into consideration water problems of their own region and country and carry out the relevant activities.
Mustafa Zaim: "We must hand over today’s values to next generations"
Having reported that they have participated in the “Environment and Climate Change” Working Group of TUSIAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association), Mustafa Zaim, the President of Maxion İnci & Maxion Jantaş, continued his words as follows: "If we want to look at the future with hope, we must combine everything, including economy, development, and employment, with sustainability principles. When we carry out production activities today, we need to consider the well-being, future, and health of our planet. In order for next generations to meet their needs, we must hand over our resources and values to the future. For this purpose, we use our best efforts to leave behind an inhabitable world. First of all, we carry out activities to reduce water consumption resulting from our production operations. We know that social impact and transformation also play a key role in transferring today’s resources and values to the future and we must take action today to leave behind an inhabitable world for our children in the future. For this reason, we are glad to have introduced the “Water Explorer Program” in Turkey as an investment to our children and the future of our world. I believe that we must leave behind a better world for next generations. "
Having been implemented in around 500 primary and secondary schools for a period of 5 years in the past, Water Explorer Program has reached approximately 42,000 people by various projects developed with 12,000 students to raise awareness about water in their schools, families, and communities.
